Week 3 Middle by Yao Guan

Progressive construction on the stilted support structure.
Dear Reader,

In the next few days after gathering materials, we started constructing the prototypes.

It was 6 am and the dogs somehow managed to dig through the mosquito net and into my sleeping space. Waking up with flea bites I questioned, "Why me and not the other tents!?" I was never a morning person to begin with. On the side, loud engines cranked up and down the lake transporting people to where they need to be (yes, I'm talking about boats with 100 horsepower engines that doesn't have a muffler). Waking up was not the most pleasant experienced I had in the floating village.

After an hour of dilly-dallying, breakfast was ready. I don't remember what we ate, but it was super tasty. It was either fried rice or noodles with veggie and sauce. Anyways, after breakfast, we made our way to a platform in one of the floating sheds to work on our prototype stilted support structure. After a days of hard work and labor, the stilted support structure was a 90% success with minor dimensional details that require adjustment.

Here are some pictures of our work on the stilted support structure:

Working hard in a swamp.
Achievement unlocked: obtained many mosquito bites.

Despite the many mosquito bites I got from working in the swamps and the intense labor of moving the heavy structure across the lake, it was generally a productive and joyful experience. This concluded our first fieldwork experience in the floating villages.
